Beatnik started out life, as most good ideas, in a front room. The radio show first broadcast on the brand new internet based 209radio from a front room in north Cambridge sometime in 2004 with Gil Karpas running a one man show. We were the second show to be broadcasting on the station.

It became apparent fairly quickly that doing a radio show on ones own can be a lonely affair and so the help (and records) of Pete Moore were enlisted to add a little more future jazz to the mix.
